Mini Book Reviews -- Two New Books by Kait Nolan!

New releases abound!

Kait Nolan has a new book in the Wishful series, See You Again:

A mother of the groom billionaire romance for the Wishful wedding of the year

Mayor Sandra Crawford has survived divorce. She's survived cancer. But she's not at all sure she'll survive the discovery that her town's billionaire philanthropist benefactor is actually the man she nearly left her husband for almost thirty years ago.

Gerald Peyton, III didn't fight for Sandy back in college--a decision he's regretted ever since. Now Trey's older, wiser, and determined to win the heart of the woman he's never forgotten.

When they wake up married in Vegas, Sandy chalks it up to a reckless mistake, but Trey's not willing to let her go so easily. Can he convince her to give their marriage a legitimate chance, or will she let him go for good this time?

Wishful is a lovely little town that makes you want to move in and make friends with everyone there! I think I like it also because it speaks to my love of order and organization -- it's great to see everyone pulling together to help Cam and Norah when their wedding is nearly derailed by a storm, wonderful to know that every local shop and business has the town's -- and surrounding nature's -- best interests at heart. I love the symbolism of the fountain too!

But wait, what does that have to do with Sandy and Trey? Well, Sandy's the mayor, and Trey's the philanthropist who's been helping Wishful come together as a special community. If anyone deserves a shot at a second-chance romance, it's these two. The fact that they start out doing it to help Sandy's son is all the sweeter.

Can't wait to catch glimpses of the happily married couples in future books!

Kait Nolan also has a new Meet Cute in the world of Camp Firefly Falls, a summer camp for grown-ups (with a new set of books published every summer):

It was a terrible idea.

But that doesn’t stop Sarah Meadows from saying yes to covering for her identical twin sister at staff orientation week at Camp Firefly Falls. It’s just a few days and she'll be back to finishing her master's thesis, right? But when her sexy, ex-park ranger partner figures out her secret, she’s got her work cut out convincing him not to turn her in.

Beckett Hayes knows he should report Sarah to the boss, but instead, he finds himself agreeing to train her. There’s just something about those big, doe eyes and all that sass. But when Sarah starts to matter more than he planned, the pressure's on. Can he convince her to take the road less traveled or will this one week have to be enough?

The Meet Cute books are lots of fun. They're short, bite-sized reads (this one was exactly long enough for my commute home -- perfect!), that give a tantalising glimpse of a couple falling in love, and the future that awaits them. Such a thrill!

Here are the other books in the series (each book is a standalone):

Don't forget, the first book in the Camp Firefly Series series is free, and the first novel in this summer's series, Second Chance Summer, is also by Kait Nolan! The first Meet Cute is also free on Kait Nolan's website!

On a completely different topic, I picked up this book at the library book sale a couple of months ago:

The Prophet From Ephesus by Caroline Lawrence

I hadn't heard of the Roman Mysteries series before, but any book about Ephesus is bound to catch my eye (because of Austin's story, The Face of A Lion). I'm halfway through, and quite enjoying it. The author does a good job of bringing weighty matters (running the Roman Empire, Roman laws, salve trading, travel around the Roman Empire, etc.) down to the YA level. There's quite a bit of telling, although it was helpful for me, since this is book 16 of 17!

With so many characters running around, the reader only gets glimpses of the motivations and desires of each of the main characters, but many of them are bound up together, and the action moves along at a good clip. And the cute nicknames of some characters make it easier to remember who's who when faced with a string of similar sounding Roman names!

Meanwhile, ROW80 (which was invented by Kait Nolan!) -- we're a few days away from the end of round 3!

I've completed edits for At Summer's End, and done an edit on paper of the new short story, The Tattoo. I haven't quite finished that missing scene I was writing for The Charm of Time, but I think I'll have to keep going on edits on the printed story if I'm ever going to advance. There's a photo down in the lobby at work that reminds me of the male MC, Rory, and I feel guilty for not working on his edits every time I pass him by, and he looks at me!

My online French business correspondence course has ended and a new one -- a Future Learn course on Archaeology -- has just started! I think I'll be catching up on that this weekend...

Are you learning anything new this season?

Good job with the edits.
Archaeology could be a lot of fun.
Well done Deniz - always busy. Romantic novels ... always good to read - at times! So pleased the edits are done .. and other work is coming along - let alone your French business course has finished - I'm sure that was beneficial ... seeing as you're in French Switzerland. Now Archaeology ... good for you - that'll be fun ... take care and continue living life to the full - cheers Hilary

Good job on getting your edits for At Summer's End done. Paper editing is awesome! I've just sent my chapter to the printer to get going on mine. ;)

Those little snippet romance reads sound really lovely! Thanks for the recommendations!
